These terms are an agreement between you and Teetouch Satithamajit, who makes Explorer as an individual (sole proprietor) in Bangkok, Thailand ("we"; contact: support@explorer.place). By creating an account or using Explorer's online features, you agree to them and to the Privacy Policy.

Using Explorer

Explorer maps where you've travelled and helps you plan trips. You can use the map, your photos, location logging, stats and your own trips without an account.
An account is needed for features that send information to us or to services we use on your behalf: place searches and details, Plan with AI, finding calendar events on the map, and sharing, following and commenting.
You need to be at least 13 years old to create an account, or the minimum age to consent to data processing where you live if that's higher (16 in some countries).
In Australia, Explorer's social features (posts, stories, chats, follows, location sharing and leaderboards) are for people 16 and over. Younger people there can still keep their record, plan and keep trips.
Keep your sign-in details safe. You're responsible for what happens in your account.

Your content

You own the trips, posts, stories, photos, comments and tips you share ("your content"). You give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and send your content, so we can run Explorer and show it to the people you choose. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, apart from copies others have legitimately saved and backups that are cleared in the normal course of operations.
Only share content you have the right to share, including photos of other people.
You choose who can see each trip (only you, your approved followers, or everyone) and each post and story (your approved followers, or everyone). Stories are shown for 24 hours, then kept in your private story archive, which only you see, unless you turn the archive off; a story you add to a highlight stays on your profile, for the same people, until you take it out.
If you turn on "Show My Public Stories Nearby", stories you share with everyone are also shown to people in the same province, two hours after you post them.
Chats are between people who follow each other, and people a chat's owner invites with a link. Everyone in a chat sees what you send there; the community rules below apply to every message.
Sharing your location with friends is optional and only with people you choose. Never turn it on in someone else's Explorer, or pressure anyone to share with you. It shows roughly where someone was, up to an hour ago: it isn't a safety or emergency service.
Leaderboards are optional. Joining one shows that board's number, with your name, @handle and photo, to everyone on it. Only send the numbers the app works out: we can take numbers people report as fake off the boards. There are no prizes.

Community rules: zero tolerance

We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive users. Don't post or send anything that:

harasses, threatens, bullies or hates on anyone, including for their race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexual orientation, disability or nationality;
is sexually explicit, or sexualises minors in any way;
encourages violence, self-harm or anything illegal or dangerous;
shares someone else's private information, such as their home address or location, without permission;
is spam, a scam, misleading, or impersonates someone;
infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights.

You can report any trip, post, story, comment, chat message or person, and block anyone. We review reports within 24 hours. We remove content that breaks these rules, and we may suspend or remove the accounts of people who post it. Content reported by three people is hidden automatically until we review it (a comment or a story is deleted). If we hide or remove something you posted, or close your account, we email you why and which rule it broke; reply to that email within six months if you'd like us to look at it again. If you report something, we email you what we decided. We never tell anyone who reported them.

Travel information and AI plans

Place details, routes, travel times, opening hours, AI-generated plans and travel guides come from third parties (Apple Maps, Wikipedia, Wikivoyage, Wikidata, an AI model run by Scaleway, Apple Intelligence) and may be wrong or out of date. Check important details, such as opening times, safety advice, visas and entry rules, before you travel. Weather forecasts, emergency numbers and Off-Road's maps, routes and climbs can be wrong or missing too: Explorer isn't a navigation, safety or emergency device, so carry what the place calls for. You're responsible for your own safety and decisions while travelling.

AI plans and Premium

Explorer has no ads. Trip plans from Explorer's AI need an account: a free account includes 5 a month, and with Premium they're unlimited for normal use (fair use: up to 150 a month). Plans made with Apple Intelligence on your iPhone have no limit. We may change these numbers; the app shows what's left each month.
Premium belongs to your Explorer account and works wherever you sign in to it. You can buy it monthly, every 6 months or yearly, in the app or on explorer.place. These are subscriptions that renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. The Trip Pass and Premium for Life are single payments and never renew. Where a plan starts with a free trial, it becomes a paid subscription when the trial ends, unless you cancel before then. Once it's on sale, Premium for Life is sold in both places.
In the app, Premium is sold through the App Store. Apple handles payment, renewal, cancellation and refunds under its own terms, and you manage it in your Apple Account settings. Deleting your Explorer account doesn't cancel it.
On explorer.place, our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders on the website. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns, under its Buyer Terms. Prices there are 5% less than in the app; the checkout shows the final price, including any tax. You can cancel a subscription at any time in Manage Billing on your account page, and Premium lasts until the end of the period you've paid for. Deleting your Explorer account cancels it straight away. Refunds are explained in the Refund Policy.
Paying in baht on explorer.place (for people in Thailand: PromptPay, TrueMoney Wallet, ShopeePay, a Thai bank app or a Thai card): here Explorer itself is the seller, and Opn Payments (Omise Co., Ltd., Bangkok) only takes the payment. These are one-off payments for 6 Months, a year, Premium for Life or the Trip Pass at the baht prices, 5% less than in the app, with nothing added at the end; nothing renews, so there's nothing to cancel. Premium is on your account the moment Opn tells us the payment arrived, and your account page is your record of it; ask support@explorer.place for a receipt. Refunds are explained in the Refund Policy.
The free trial: the 6-month plan can start with two weeks free. It's once per Apple Account in the app (Apple's rule), and once per Explorer account on explorer.place, where it's only for an account that has never had Premium. Nothing is charged during the trial. Cancel before it ends and you pay nothing. Otherwise the 6-month price is charged when the trial ends, and the plan renews as usual. Monthly, Yearly and Premium for Life have no trial.
Premium for Life is a single payment for Premium on your Explorer account for as long as Explorer offers Premium, with no renewals. It can't be moved to another account, and it ends if your account is deleted or ended for breaking these terms.
The Trip Pass is a single payment for Premium on your Explorer account for 30 days, with no renewal. Its days start when you buy it, and passes stack: another one adds its days after the first. It can't be bought while a subscription is active (in the App Store, on explorer.place or in baht), or on an account with Premium for Life. If you start a subscription or get Premium for Life while a pass runs, the pass's days left wait and resume when that ends (with Premium for Life, they never need to). It can't be paused any other way or moved to another account, and it ends early only if it's refunded, or if your account is deleted or ended for breaking these terms. Free Premium days from invitations or Explorer's creator programme wait until the pass's days are used. Days left have no cash value.
Don't buy the same Premium twice: if you move from an App Store subscription to Premium for Life, cancel the subscription in your Apple Account settings.

Other services

Explorer's maps, place search and directions come from Apple Maps. Apple's standard licence agreement also applies to the app.

Book This Trip links to other companies' sites (for flights, airport transfers, car rental, eSIMs, tickets and tours) with your trip filled in. These are affiliate links: Explorer may earn a commission when you book, at no extra cost to you. Anything you book is between you and that company, under its terms and prices; Explorer isn't a party to it and can't change, cancel or refund it.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time: in the app (You → Account & Sign-In → Delete Account) or on your account page at explorer.place. We may suspend or end accounts that break these terms or the law.

Disclaimers and liability

Explorer is provided "as is". As far as the law allows, we don't guarantee that it will always be available, accurate or error-free. We aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for losses caused by relying on travel information or AI plans. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be excluded.

Changes

We may update these terms. If the changes are significant, we'll ask you to agree to the new version in the app before you keep using online features.

Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand, without affecting mandatory consumer protections where you live.
