Explorer reads only the date and place saved with each photo, never the picture itself. From those it fills in the countries, provinces, counties and cities you've been to, and the places: the temple, the market, the café you went back to. Places it isn't sure of wait for you to say yes or no.

What to do now? is free three times on your trips. A free account gets 5 trip plans a month from Explorer's AI, and plans from Apple Intelligence are unlimited. Do I need an account?
No. Your record, passport, stats, trips and place search work without one. An account is for sharing trips, posts and stories, for trip chats, and for trip plans from Explorer's AI.
Does Explorer upload my photos or location history?
Only if you choose to. Explorer reads where and when each photo was taken on your iPhone, and a photo is uploaded only when you share it in a trip, post or story, without its location. Your location history goes to our server only if you turn on its backup to your account.
Who can see the places I've been?
Places found from your photos and visits are only yours: they stay on your iPhone. A place you mark as visited yourself is shown only to the people you choose. Places near your home and places you go often are never shown to anyone else.
What do I need?
An iPhone with iOS 26 or later. Plan with AI on Apple Intelligence needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence; Explorer's AI plans work on any of them.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to You → Account & Sign-In → Delete Account, or sign in on your account page here and choose Delete. Everything you've shared is removed straight away.
